A.S.Co.T. Fencing II - Paris 2011

From Friday 29th of April to Sunday 1st of May 2011
A.S.Co.T. Club’s first event of 2011 took the form of a friendly fencing match against the Automobile Club de France in response to an invitation by the Automobile Club de France. The weekend began with some friendly fencing against the members of the Salle d'Armes of Maître de la Taule in the rue Gît-le-Coeur.

After sealing our friendship with the musketeers of the oldest salle d’armes in Paris with a glass of wine, the evening continued with dinner taken at the Cercle de l'Union Interalliée. Saturday commenced with a private visit to the Palais Bourbon, home of the French National Assembly, and, after lunch at Minim’s, the fencers of A.S.Co.T. Club and the Automobile Club de France measured themselves against each other in the best of surroundings.

After the final, which took place on the stage in the library of this prestigious Parisian club, we all gathered for a prize-giving ceremony and a pleasant dinner at which the emblems of both clubs enjoyed pride of place. On the next day about thirty people were very sorry that the weekend was finally over when the al fresco brunch in glorious sunshine hosted by Count Denys de Guerry and his lady wife on board their magnificent barge on the Seine came to an end.
